Pan Junior Wardens Scheme
In January 2009 Pan Neighbourhood Partnership set up the Junior Wardens scheme.
The Pan Junior Wardens scheme aims to provide constructive activities for young people in the community, raising their aspirations and tackling community problems with a positive focus.
The Junior Wardens take an active role in the partnership’s annual rubbish amnesty, where they assist residents in using a free skip service, and have also carried out home visits to do fire safety checks for residents.
The Junior Wardens also organize their own activities in order to raise funds to make their project sustainable, and hold regular bingo evenings for older residents on Pan.
The scheme, receives supported from the local Police Authority and Fire & Rescue Service. In addition to organizing their own activities the Junior Wardens support public events including; the IW Soapbox Derby Challenge, National Play day and community fetes and fun days.
The Junior Wardens Scheme also provides training. The Junior Wardens have taken part in the L.I.F.E. Scheme provided by the IW Fire and Rescue Service, which is a week long course in education about fire safety and how to prevent the risk of fires. The Junior Wardens have also received first aid training.
